Scooter Hire

With such fantastic year round weather, scooter hire in Costa Blanca is a popular choice of transport for holidaymakers. From Pilar de la Horadada in the south to Dénia in the north, the National N-332 coastal coastal road is a pleasure to ride, with sea or mountain views to stop and enjoy along the way. Benidorm is the most visited city on the Costa Blanca and its inland areas offer glorious valleys and mountains where the windy roads and swooping bends are perfect for a thrilling bike ride, revealing here and there secluded little villages to stop and enjoy refreshments along the way.

Hiring A Scooter

As the majority of holidaymakers choose seaside destinations, the coastal towns and cities nearly all offer at least one scooter rental company and you will also find slightly more limited scooter hire availability in the larger inland towns and cities. Riding laws are pretty similar to those in the UK but don't make the mistake of thinking they are like Spain of old when many rental agents didn't even ask for a licence when renting out a 50cc scooter. Riders need to be 18 years old and hold a full car or motorcycle licence to ride a 50cc scooter, and to ride a 125cc scooter the same rules apply, although riders need to be 21 years old.

When deciding on scooter hire in Costa Blanca, pretty much every rental agent will have the same policy on licencing, and what they offer as part of your rental agreement can differ from one to the next. Most only offer third party liability insurance, some will offer roadside assistance within a certain radius, free helmet and unlimited mileage, and some will expect the scooter to be returned clean and with a full tank of fuel.

Scooter Hire Prices

Prices for scooter hire in Costa Blanca vary quite a bit depending on the age, model and engine size of the scooter, and cheaper prices can usually be found in larger cities such as Benidorm where there is more competition between the rental companies. Prices for a 50cc scooter range from 20€ – 50€ per day and 125cc from 25€ – 65€. Expect to pay three times this amount for a motorcycle. This may seem a bit expensive to some but compared to jet ski hire at around 20€ for 15 minutes, you have all day and night to enjoy riding your scooter.

Murcia-San Javier Airport

Visitors to Costa Blanca using air travel are well catered for as the region boasts two airports, Murcia-San Javier Airport which is especially handy for the Orihuela Costa area, and the larger Alicante Airport.
