Underwater Sea Trek

Just when you thought you had seen it all, Benidorm never ceases to amaze and has a tendency to pull something new out of the hat such as an underwater sea trek. Yes, this vibrant city known as the party capital of the Costa Blanca is the place to head for if you are looking for fun filled excitement during your holidays. Always staying one step ahead when it comes to activities and adventure, Benidorm offers thrills galore for visitors of all ages and one of the latest crazy water activities that can be enjoyed here is an underwater sea trek.

Neither snorkelling or scuba diving, this latest invention uses the concept of Bell Divers from days of old when underwater exploration was still in its infancy. These brave divers used frightfully heavy diving suits, boots and large brass bell helmets that were supplied air through a pipe connected to an air compressor in a boat on the surface. Scuba diving has come a long way since then and the helmets used for the underwater sea trek are made from lightweight durable plastic with a 360 degree viewing dome that is supplied air through a flexible pipe.

Carefully selected underwater trekking routes have been chosen, and modified with hand rails so that trekkers can safely and easily enjoy their underwater journey with the least negative impact on the sea life and beautiful varieties of plants and coral. The helmets form a watertight seal and sit comfortably on the wearers shoulders, making it possible to enjoy the sea trek in just a swimming costume with no need for a diving suit.

Underwater Sea Trek Operators

Diving Stones – Based in Benidorm harbour near the yacht club, Diving Stones are one of the city's leading scuba diving centres and their team of professional divers and instructors have a wealth of local underwater knowledge. Their 30 minute underwater sea trek gives the feeling of near weightlessness as trekkers venture along the trail at 5 metres deep accompanied by a qualified scuba diver.

Marco Polo Expediciones – Also based in Benidorm on Av. de Europa, Marco Polo have years of experience in adventure tours and offer an outstanding choice of activities that can be enjoyed on land, at sea and in the air. Their sea trek uses the same equipment and underwater route as Diving Stones and also lasts for a duration of 30 minutes. Trekkers booking with Marco Polo are offered free use of one of their bicycles to get from their office to the trek destination.

Spain is a superb destination for outdoor sporting activities and with an average of 325 sunny days per year, tennis in Costa Blanca is very popular.
