Poniente Beach

Situated in the popular coastal city of Benidorm, Poniente Beach is one of the longest on the Costa Blanca and forms a sweeping bay of golden sands backed by hotels and residential areas. Not as busy as neighbouring Levante Beach which is in the heart of the city centre, Poniente is the perfect choice for families not wishing to spend the day among raucous crowds of party hard teens, yet can still enjoy excellent facilities and a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Poniente Beach Facilities

Sheltered by a headland in the south and with the lively Old Town and marina in the north, visitors have access to numerous facilities throughout the length of Poniente Beach. Gentle sloping sands and calm waters provide a safe environment for young children and there are lifeguard stations and marked swim zones when the waters get a bit rough. A number of wheelchair access points are available as well as a first aid station, showers, ablutions, beach sports facilities, sun loungers and children's play areas.

Surrounding Attractions

A new promenade backing Poniente Beach has given a welcome boost to the bar and restaurant industry with some of the establishments in the area that were previously closed down, now re-opening. Where the beach meets the old town is the liveliest part of Poniente where visitors can enjoy a picnic in the shade of d'Elx Park, choose from a number of thrilling water activities in the marina or explore the narrow streets and alleys of Benidorm's charming Old Town.

The Old Town is a pleasure to wander around where visitors will find a superb selection of shops, boutiques, Chinese bazaars, ice cream parlours, cafes, bars and restaurants. The famous Tapas Alley is a must visit for those wishing to try a good variety of Spanish cuisine that is presented in the form of tapas, which are small plates of tasty dishes or pinchos, which are generally a selection of small bites on a slice of baguette with a drizzle of olive oil. The Old Town's gay quarter is home to some hilarious drag acts and flamboyant cabaret shows where fun is guaranteed and all are welcome.

Playa Flamenca Beach

The resort area of Orihuela Costa is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Costa Blanca, and adding to its popularity is the superb Playa Flamenca Beach.
