Les Deveses Beach
The bustling town of Dénia lies in the far north of the Costa Blanca and is a popular holiday destination offering superb attractions such as Les Deveses Beach and Montgó Natural Park. Its large port boasts regular ferry services to the Balearic Islands and it is roughly equidistant between Valencia and Alicante international airports. The many attractions of the town include one of the largest sports & golf resorts in Spain and the delicious cuisine of the region can be sampled in its hundreds of excellent restaurants and tapas bars.
Les Deveses Beach Facilities
Dénia boasts a number of wonderful beaches along its 20 kilometres of coastline and to the north of the town centre, Les Deveses Beach is its longest and most charming, stretching for over 4 kilometres with predominantly white sands backed by rolling dunes. At the southern end where it borders La Almadrava Beach the sand gives way to pebbles but still retains its charm and popularity with great services and facilities.
Favourable wind conditions make the beach an excellent choice for board sports and there is a designated area of about 600 metres recommended for practising wind and kite surfing. Many visitors come to the beach to jog or walk and there are facilities for minifutbol and beach volleyball. Les Deveses Beach is cleaned regularly and there are various wheelchair access points, first aid services, lifeguards, marked area for swimming, designated boat and jet ski launch area, foot showers, ablutions, sun loungers, parasols and a selection of beach bars where visitors can enjoy soft and alcoholic drinks, ice creams and a choice of snacks.
Surrounding Attractions & Facilities
Other beaches to visit in Dénia include Les Bovetes, Les Marines, Els Palmars and La Almadrava, and to the south beyond the harbour there are a series of rocky coves known as Les Rotes that are favoured by anglers, snorkelers and scuba divers. Dénia's Club La Sella Golf is unusual in the sense it has three 9 hole courses as opposed to the usual 18 hole course, and on the outskirts of the town is the amazing Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort. This place is more like a self contained village with an 18 hole golf course, tennis and padel tennis facilities, 4 FIFA size football and rugby pitches and one of the finest equestrian centres in Spain.
A favourite attraction with the young ones, and hardly seen anymore outside of America, is the Autocine Drive In Movie where visitors can enjoy watching a movie from the comfort of their car or set up some deck chairs and have a picnic whilst enjoying the film, just like in the popular late 70's movie Grease. Around town there is an excellent choice of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and in the picturesque marina there is a further choice of fine dining restaurants along the raised promenade. For a bit of exercise, the excellent hiking trails through Montgó Natural Park offer panoramic views and interesting flora & fauna.
