Flyboarding

The world of water sports just gets better and crazier each year with new inventions coming out all the time, and now you can reach for the skies when flyboarding in Costa Blanca. It seems like the invention of a new activity tends to lead to something even more outrageous like the popular banana boat for instance; an all time favourite water activity that's been around for years has now led to the development of the flying fish, a similar idea to the banana boat but flat and wing shaped that once reaching speed lifts off and flies above the water.

Crazy Inventions

The same concept applies to the flyboard that was invented in 2012 by champion jet ski rider Franky Zapata. Unlike conventional small boats that use a propeller for thrust, jet skis are propelled by high powered water jets. By using specially adapted nozzles that fit onto a jet ski's propulsion system, Franky Zapata managed to direct that thrust through a long pipe that in turn is connected to the flyboard, creating a downward thrust that enables riders to fly out of the water and perform all sorts of acrobatic swoops and dives just like a dolphin 🙂
