La Safor Orange Grove Tour
The citrus growing region of Gandia lies in the far north of the Costa Blanca and a great way to explore the area is on a La Safor orange grove tour. The coastal and inland areas of this region are a lot more fertile than in the south, making for a beautiful countryside setting of lush valleys, rolling hills and pine forest that reaches almost to the sea. The area is also home to the splendid Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort which, besides its 18 hole golf course boasts 4 football pitches and one of the most prestigious equestrian centres in Spain.
The tour is run by Mandarinablue who are based in Alicante and offer a variety of fun and interesting tours to a number of destinations on the Costa Blanca. Those interested in doing the La Safor orange grove tour should wear suitable shoes for walking in the countryside, comfortable clothes, and a hat, sun cream and water are advisable; oh, and don't forget to bring along a rucksack or plastic bag to take some delicious oranges home with you.
La Safor Orange Grove Tour – After a morning pick up from various points in the Alicante region the coach travels through the scenic countryside of La Safor before reaching the village of La Font D'en Carrós. From here it's a short and fragrant walk to the orange groves where your guide will tell you a bit about the region's history and the planting and growing process while you pick some juicy oranges, snacking on a few along the way of course before filling your bag to take home.
The tour then heads back to the village for a wander around and lunch in one of the local restaurants (lunch is optional and not included in the tour price). After enjoying some of the delicious cuisine of the region the coach heads to the small coastal town of Gandia where you can explore attractions such as the Cathedral La Colegiata, Ducal Palace, Archaeological Museum and House of Culture. Although your guide is there to give information and direct the group, you are free to enjoy the town at your leisure should you wish.
