Golf courses dot the Costa Blanca landscape like green jewels among the surrounding terrain. Indeed, the area is fast becoming the costa of choice for golfers and golfing holidays. The location of many Costa Blanca golf courses are ideal for visiting families and groups with different agendas. Some are located close to town and city centres. Others lie not far from the coast. This allows the golfer in the family the chance to enjoy a round or two of golf while the rest of the family can spend lazy days on the beach or enjoy the attractions and activities of the city.

Costa Blanca Golf Courses

Visitors enjoying a holiday in Alicante have several golf courses to test their skills. Located inland from Alicante City near the little town of Orito is Alenda Golf. The 18 hole course covers an area of 49 hectares and has a length of 6,257 metres and par 72. Alenda features a Golf School with  instructors endorsed by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation. Practice facilities include 2 practice greens, a pitch & putt area and driving range. This is a great course for families, with tennis and padel courts, a gymnasium and the fun Ludoteca Kids Club offering games and music lessons.

Further south near the city of Torrevieja is La Marquesa Golf. Set in gently rolling hills fringed with palms and pine forest, the 18 hole course is a pleasure to play. A natural grass driving range, bunker area and 400 metre putting green make up the practice facilities. Before visiting it's worthwhile to check online first as La Marquesa often feature monthly offers on green fees. If visiting with family, not far from the course is the thrilling Quesada Aqua Park.

Also slightly inland from Torrevieja is one of the most unusual golf courses on the Costa Blanca. Vistabella Golf covers an area of 34 hectares with a length of 6,000 metres and par 73. The surprise is, it only has 11 holes. However, these have been expertly configured so golfers can play a full 18 holes with different tee positions on the holes that are played twice. Vistabella is also home to an artificial grass bowling green and three padel tennis courts.

Las Colinas is one of those golf courses that not only offers a great game but also superb cuisine. Located in the popular coastal area of Orihuela Costa, the 18 hole par 71 course poses tricky bunkers and challenging water hazards. A short game area, large putting green and natural grass driving range are available for practice. First class coaching is offered in the Golf Academy run by PGA professional Robert Mitchell. Two dining options, UniK Café and Enso Sushi Bar are offered in the clubhouse, and a further cafe bar and infinity pool are features of the Colinas Beach Club.

Orihuela Costa's golf courses continue in the form of Villamartin Golf Club. Wonderful sea views are a feature of this 18 hole course set in rolling hills and valleys. It had the privilege of playing  host to the 1994 Mediterranean Open and has a length of 6,005 metres and par 72. The terrain is beautiful yet challenging with some deep ravines coming into play on several holes. Practice facilities include a driving range, and putting greens next to the stylish club house.

Boasting the nickname of Golf Island due to its 18th hole being completely surrounded by a lake, Lo Romero Golf is located in the far south of Costa Blanca. The 18 hole course has a par of 72 and practice facilities include a covered long game area, chipping green, putting greens and bunkers.

Costa Blanca Golf Resorts

Visitors serious about getting in as many games as possible during their holiday have a great choice of golf resorts offering a variety of accommodation options. If you are going to stay in a resort you may as well go big and they don't get bigger than Meliá Villaitana Golf Resort. This place is huge and built to resemble a Mediterranean village offering luxurious living at its finest.  Two 18 hole courses designed by the much respected and highly talented golfer Jack Nicklaus, and excellent practice facilities will keep the most avid golfer entertained. Add to this a superb choice of accommodation, lagoon style swimming pools, sports facilities, gymnasium, luxurious wellness centre and numerous bars and restaurants and you may never want to leave.

La Sella Golf Resort lies in the north of Costa Blanca close to the seaside town of Dénia. This is another of the area's unusual golf courses. It is actually three individual 9 hole courses named after the different winds that blow through the region. There are excellent practice facilities and the clubhouse restaurant even features a ‘gin & tonic' menu. The resort offers a variety of five star accommodation, stunning pool, gymnasium, spa centre, and several bars and restaurants.

Bonalba Golf Resort is centrally located near the town of El Campello. The resort's 18 hole course has a par of 72 with 5 large lakes that come into play on 7 of the holes. Players can enjoy good practice facilities, tennis and padel courts and a lawn bowls club. Leisure facilities include an artificial beach surrounding the tropical island themed swimming pool, extensive gardens and a mini waterfall concealing a hidden cave complete with pool, massage jets and chill out area. Within the resort complex is a spa and indoor pool, bars, restaurants and luxury accommodation.

You can let the family spend the day on sandy San Juan Beach while the keen golfer hits the course at Alicante Golf Club. Designed by the much loved and well respected professional golfer Severiano Ballesteros, the 18 hole course has a par of 72 with 5 lakes coming into play on 12 of the holes. Facing the 18th hole is the four star Hotel Husa. Stylish guest rooms boast private terraces, and within the gardens is a swimming pool and padel tennis court. Within the hotel complex is an indoor pool, sauna, beauty salon and excellent wining & dining facilities.

El Plantío Golf Resort is not far from Alicante City. It offers an 18 hole par 72 championship course and a 9 hole par 27 course. For practice there is two approach areas, putting green and driving range, and the resort runs a Golf School. Leisure facilities include 2 swimming pools and terraces surrounded by pretty gardens. There is also a kids pool and playground, solarium and gymnasium. Accommodation is offered in fully equipped guest apartments with private terraces.

La Finca Golf & Spa Resort is a short drive from the coastal city of Torrevieja. As golf courses go, La Finca's superb leisure and entertainment facilities will keep all the family busy. Offering  stunning mountain views, the 18 hole course poses challenges for all experience levels. There are good practice facilities as well as a Golf Academy. Leisure time can be spent around the large outdoor swimming pool or in the spa and gymnasium. Within the resort complex are several bars and restaurants, as well as the Suite Lounge Club that features live music and fun disco nights.

Real Club De Golf Campoamor Resort lies at the southern border of Orihuela Costa. The 18 hole course sits between two valleys and has a par of 72. The resort sports and leisure facilities are superb. They include three natural grass football pitches, two gymnasiums, large outdoor swimming pool, three tennis courts and four padel tennis courts. Guests can expect four star accommodation, excellent event and conference facilities and a fine dining restaurant.
