Villamartin Golf Club
Built in 1972 when the surrounding residential area was still in its infancy, Villamartin Golf Club enjoys an elevated inland position in the popular resort area of Orihuela Costa. Forming part of the beautiful Costa Blanca, the area is neither a town or city, but rather a collection of residential areas resembling small towns, and Villamartin is the most popular of the inland suburbs. The location of the club puts it within a 5 minute drive from the beach and just a few minutes from a further three 18 hole courses, making Villamartin a desirable area for golfers.
Villamartin Golf Course
Set in a picturesque area of rolling hills and pine forest, the course played host to the 1994 Mediterranean Open and its challenging terrain includes some deep ravines that come into play on several holes. The course has a length of 6,005 metres and is a par 72 with hole 9 being the shortest and hole 14 the longest. This hole is played over a deep ravine and is regarded by some as one of the best par 5's in Spain. Regarded as one of the best par 3's in Spain, hole 17 plays from an elevated back tee and is the signature hole for the course.
Villamartin Golf Club Facilities
The club facilities are what you would expect from an internationally renowned course and include a driving range, putting greens, pro shop, buggy, cart and club hire, locker rooms and a newly renovated restaurant with wonderful views from its large picture windows. If you are one of the lucky few to achieve a hole in one, be sure to have your name logged in the golfers hall of fame which reads like a Scandinavian telephone directory, testament to the popularity of Orihuela Costa with northern European expats and holidaymakers.
Villamartin Golf Club is just a short drive from a superb choice of golden sand beaches, great shopping opportunities in the nearby Zenia Boulevard and is within walking distance to three lively commercial centres, the excellent Villamartin Plaza being right next door to the club. The plaza is built over three levels and home to some of the best bars and restaurants in Orihuela Costa as well as shops, banks, hair & beauty salons, a post room and supermarket. The upper level of the plaza houses an assortment of apartments, some of which overlook the golf course and are a popular choice for visitors on a golf holiday.
