El Campello

One of the Costa Blanca's hidden gems, El Campello provides the perfect holiday destination for visitors seeking a more laid back and peaceful scene, away from the busier cities of Alicante and Benidorm yet still within a 30 minute drive to enjoy city delights and party nights. The town is easily accessed from Alicante International Airport and enjoys good road links via the N-332 coastal road and major AP-7 motorway.

Beaches & Attractions

Evidence of careful town planning can be seen throughout El Campello and this has helped it to retain its charm, with wide picturesque promenades, lively fish market and a busy marina. The backdrop to the town offers lovely mountain views and it's wide sandy beach curves around a sweeping tranquil bay that stretches for miles. Further swimming and sunbathing spots can be found in the smaller coves of La Venta la Nuza or La Coveta Fuma. Overlooking the marina is a well preserved 16th century watchtower serving as a nostalgic reminder of the regions turbulent past and frequent raids by Berber pirates.

Throughout El Campello's restaurants and tapas bars visitors are reminded of the town's fish market, with wonderful seafood and shellfish featuring highly on many menus and adorning the great range of tapas to be found around town. Wandering through the town is a delight with small plazas, colourful seafront houses backing the Paseo del Mar promenade and traditional cafes and bars.

Activities

The sweeping Bay of El Campello enjoys favourable wind conditions that provide for good board sports such as wind and kite surfing and the coves of La Venta la Nuza or La Coveta Fuma are a great spot for snorkelling and fishing.

Visitors who appreciate fine music should ask around town when the next live music performance will be held in the stunning Caves of Canelobre (Las Cuevas de Canelobre). Situated slightly inland the caves are a major tourist attraction and the main cavern's vast cathedral shaped walls and ceiling, artfully adorned with subtle lighting, provide outstanding natural acoustics, a music performance not to be missed.

Calpe

With its commanding hilltop position, the old fortress town of Castalla boasts sweeping views of the Foia de Castalla Valley and fertile plains of inland Alicante province.
