Callosa de Segura

The sprawling rural town of Callosa de Segura lies at the base of the Callosa de Segura Mountain, about 20 minutes drive inland from the coast. Serviced by Alicante Airport, the town has good road links via the National N-340 and AP-7 motorway and also has a train station connecting it to Orihuela and Murcia in the south and Alicante and Elche in the north.

About Town

Visitors to Callosa de Segura can enjoy an abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants or visit a choice of indoor and outdoor markets where the local fresh produce and delicacies of the region make for a delicious picnic. Wondering around the town there are parks and plazas, historical monuments, churches, a tourist office and municipal indoor swimming pool.

Attractions & Activities

A highlight for many visitors is the Callosa de Segura Cueva Ahumada and Callosa de Segura La Pilarica natural parks that surround the mountain and offer a number of marked nature trails up and around the mountain. The hikes are of varying duration and visitors making the walk all the way to the summit are rewarded with stunning panoramic views over the town and surrounding plains.

By far the best and most abundant activities can be enjoyed in Torrevieja which is less than 30 minutes drive from Callosa de Segura and boasts over a dozen beaches. The city's marina area offers an excellent choice of water sports, boat trips and adventure excursions, and the city itself is home to hundreds of shops, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. There are two exciting water parks, the huge Sports City, Ozone Leisure Centre, Sky Zone Trampoline Park and on the outskirts of the city, the superb Lo Rufete Multi Adventure Park.

Neighbouring Orihuela Costa has a further selection of beaches, some regularly receiving the prestigious Blue Flag Award. Here you will also find a choice of three 18 hole golf courses, go karting, mini golf and the impressive Zenia Boulevard, the largest shopping complex in the Alicante Province with over 150 shops, boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Aspe

The small town of Aspe, known for growing a specific variety of grapes, lies in the interior of the Costa Blanca about 25 kilometres from the city of Alicante.
