Multi Activity Holidays

The Costa Blanca's diverse coastline and rugged interior provide the perfect terrain for adventurous visitors who wish to experience the thrills of multi activity holidays. Based near the coastal town of Calpe, Highpoint Mountain Guides are a highly professional activities operator with qualified instructors experienced in a wide range of mountaineering disciplines. The 5 day multi activity holidays include an exciting mix of hiking, rock scrambling, canyoning, via ferrata, rock climbing and abseiling. Participants need a good level of fitness and a head for heights although rock climbing and abseiling experience is not essential.

Meals & Accommodation

Accommodation during the holiday is in a comfortable villa just outside the town and is based on two people sharing a twin room. The villa is fully equipped and meals are on a self catering basis, alternately there are a good number of bars and restaurants in the town where guests can take all their meals should they choose not to cook in the villa. During free time guests can explore Calpe which boasts golden sand beaches and lively evening entertainment.

Equipment Needed

All climbing and abseiling equipment is provided, as is drinking water but with the multi activity holidays being during the winter months, climbers may wish to take along the odd banana or energy bar during hikes to keep up stamina in the cold weather. Warm clothing, waterproof outerwear, rock climbing shoes, hiking boots, sun protection and hats are also essential. Those who are experienced in rock climbing and abseiling are welcome to bring along any of their own equipment should they choose.

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 – Guests have a choice of making their own way to the villa from any of the Costa Blanca's airports or at a small extra charge, transfers to and from Alicante Airport can be arranged. Upon arrival at the villa, guests will be taken on a short tour of the town where your guide will point out some of the best dining spots and traditional tapas bars. Following this is an invigorating 2.5 hour hike up the picturesque El Penon de Ifach (Calpe Rock).

Day 2 – The dramatic Toix Crag provides the setting for day 2 where the activities include a combination of abseiling and rock climbing. Your instructor will be with you at all times to assist and advise, and for those who have no experience in these disciplines the instructor will teach you the basics and assist during ascents and descents.

Day 3 – The perfect advantage to work the kinks out of tight muscles during this 5-7 hour hike and rock scramble over the Bernia Ridge and Mount Olta that rises to just under 600 metres, with rest and photo stops along the way to admire the views and diverse flora & fauna.

Day 4 – Ponoch Mountain is home to one of the newest and best via ferratas in the Costa Blanca that makes the mountain more accessible to the general public. A via ferrata is a protected mountain climbing route specially adapted with steps, rungs, fixed cables, ladders and bridges allowing inexperienced climbers to enjoy the thrill of routes that were previously only available to experienced mountain climbers. This is combined with canyoning in the breathtaking Barranco del Infierno Ravine.

Day 5 – This is the final full day of the holiday where guests will be transported to the vast Echo Jalon Valley for a day of hiking and rock climbing.

Day 6 – Depending on guests flight departure times, it may be possible to fit in a further short activity before setting off on your journey home.

Please note: The multi activity holidays itinerary may change depending on weather.
